The first thing the assistant manager at Blockbuster heard when I approached him in the spring of 2023 was "Hi I'm Emily, I'm a local artist who designed a custom blanket I would like to give to your store". To my surprise, he introduced himself and happily accepted my gift and said he knew exactly where he was going to place it in the store.
By May they had received so many requests to purchase that gifted blanket the manager reached out to me directly to order a small batch. Thirty blankets sold the first year and that's how Blockbuster Video became my first wholesale account as a business founded in 2023.
I will be delivering my 200th Blockbuster Video blanket this week, a little over three years after the first order. I have such a soft spot in my heart for Blockbuster Video for so many reasons now. First, I took countless trips to local Blockbuster Videos when I was in college and used to have an amazing collection of the 5 for $25 DVDs. Second of course, is that they are my first big break as a business.
